Step by step at home in the Biberbau

Getting used to the Biberbau is based on the Berlin model - a tried and tested method for children under 3 years of age that has been scientifically researched for many years. The basic principle is that the child gets to know a new step every day of the acclimatization. The total period of acclimatization is 3 weeks.

Admission interview

The admission interview takes place in the Biberbau before you get used to it. In the one-hour conversation we get to know the family well and of course we also ask about all the important data about the family and the child. In addition to contact details, information on allergies and people to be picked up, we also ask about the child's habits when it comes to eating, sleeping and playing. These questions will prepare us as well as possible for the child and his family later during the acclimatization process.

First week

The first week of acclimatization is used to get to know each other. During the first three days, the reference teacher is alone in the group room with the settling-in parent and the child for an hour in the afternoon. During this time, the goal is for all three to get to know each other and to trust each other. That is why there are no separations here, nor are other children and teachers involved. The parent and child only get to know the rest of the group and the other teachers from the fourth day of acclimatization. You spend another hour in the Biberbau, take part in our morning group and familiarize yourself with the game situation in the group. After about 50 minutes of time together in the group, the parent says goodbye and leaves the group room for about 10 minutes. This first separation is usually an emotional moment for parents and children that we carefully accompany.

Second week

In the following days, the parent's visiting time in the group is reduced further and that of the child is extended. Little by little, the child gets to know new aspects of Biberbau: playing in a group without the parent, daily changing with the teacher, eating in the children's restaurant, brushing teeth and washing hands after lunch. By the end of the second week, the child will be picked up before bedtime at 12:00.

Third week

From the third week of acclimatization, the child begins to sleep in the Biberbau at noon. They learn to put on their pajamas together with the other children and under the supervision of the teachers and to find peace in their bed. The teachers in the group accompany the child very intensively in order to give the child a feeling of security and security. With the end of bedtime and the extension of your child's stay to the desired booking time by the end of the third week, familiarization is complete.

Recommendation for parents

We recommend parents to allow themselves around four weeks to get used to it. Even if it only takes 15 working days to get used to it, parents should build in buffers. For example, it can happen that the child is sick for a few days during the acclimatization process. This automatically increases the time. It can also happen that the reference teacher falls ill during the first two weeks of acclimatization. In this case, the familiarization must also be interrupted. Only from the third week onwards can another teacher from the group continue the acclimatization.
